Title: What is the Legalise Poker Alliance
Post by Legalise Poker on Oct 21st, 2006, 1:48pm

Hi Poker Fan

Firstly I would like to thank the Poker Jokers for supporting our campaign.

Information on the Alliance is listed below.  Please visit us at www.legalisepoker.co.uk to find out more.

Legalise Poker

Our Strategy

The Legalise Poker Alliance (LPA) is in the process of registering as an official political party for Great Britain.

In the next general election, the LPA will nominate at least ten parliamentary candidates. These members will contest seats for parliament in strategic areas around the country and speak up for poker players.

We actively encourage people to stand in elections on any issues they consider important, not just poker.

We are united under a common banner - legalisation of poker and the protection of our rights.

Already the LPA is causing a stir and attracting attention.

IT IS MOST IMPORTANT THAT WE GET OVER THE HURDLE OF POLITICAL INDIFFERENCE AND APATHY TO OUR CAUSE, AS WELL AS THAT OF ANY FEELINGS OF BEING UNABLE TO CHANGE ANYTHING, AND GET PEOPLE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR RIGHTS IN A DEMOCRACY.

We invite supporters to endorse our principles, aims and proposals.

Our Principals

We believe the playing of poker ought to be a matter of choice and not of law.

We believe that the prohibition of poker is against the public interest.

We believe that the prohibition of poker contravenes Human Rights.

Our Objectives

That online gambling should be removed from the SAFE Port Act, thereby being legalised.

That similar legislation expected in the United Kingdom and Europe be halted.

That the playing of poker should be free from prosecution..

That provision be made to enable the setting up of outlets where poker can be played in a safe environment.

That at least the same level of protection be given to the poker player as is given to the consumers of other commodities: weights and measures, quality etc.

Our Methods

We run a dedicated membership programme, distribute information to the public, press and researchers.

Like most campaigns the Legalise Poker Party cannot operate without funds, so raising money is obviously very important. But there are other ways that you can help.

Sign the Legalise Poker petition, join the Alliance and demand respect. You must be 18 years of age to be a member of the Legalise Poker Alliance.

We will deliver the message to government and demand they listen to our voice.
