Record numbers, a bakers dozen do battle at the Chateau. A marathon 5 hour game is peppered with outbreaks and disputes, a heated confrontation that at one point degenerates into a walkout by Grinder and Professor. A political incident is averted when they realise the losers game had started without them and they would be stuck between a rock and a hard place (no game!). Alcohol is soaked on the game and it is a night of survival of the fittest.
The Dealer sinks everyones hopes and is never in trouble. Plays slow in the early rounds but has the staying power to steal Candyman's sugar. Takes the win in controversial circumstances with rumours of a pot split with Candyman.
Candyman is flying the flag for London and does the town proud. Looks a favourite to win when one to one but his sweet tooth falters at the last hurdle. Aggressive player, one to watch. The Candyman can?
The Wino is in a rich seam of form. Downs the customary bottle but remains a danger throughout. Causes a walkout (temporary) by floping his hand out of order. Was Wino playing mind games?
Grinder is so consistant it's frightening. Once again is in the points but his game of tight play is less suited to large tables. Not enough chips left to compete and he is hussled out of the game.
Sophie joins the battle and is an early winner. Has a unique style of collecting (two armed sweeping!) her winnings and is the Chipmonk. Respectable 5th sends out a warning to the Jokers.
Professor is a bull, loud, aggressive play with always the potential for a bundle. Creates a dangerous precedent by walking out in protest at a hand. The bully is beaten by his own tactics.
Fingers brings the electronic shuffler to the table but little else. pregnant doges and moans about his cards and bets on just two hands all night. You've got to be in it to win it. Poor.
Simon is the General. A first time player he shows a natural command of the table but is blown away by over zealous betting. Wins the odd battle but the war is lost to the big guns.
DOG is experiencing a dip in form and a crisis of confidence. Never comfortable with the bakers dozen she wimpers out early. The bark is worse than the bite right now.
Yellow Flag is red flagged by cheap whiskey and strong lager. Maniac, he's never in the game and loses big on a single hand, never recovers. Steve stands in perfectly, playing just as nuts.
Ishmael brings the music but no cards. Adopts a loose approach, betting too many hands against too big a crowd. Poker suicide. Out so quick he looks numb in shock, leaves with only regrets.
The Fox is not her normal self. Careful play is replaced by hit and hope. Admits that concentration may have let her down. The huge pack of jokers hound her from the table.
Mentalist is... well mental really! Bets all, game hinges on a Wino showdown. No love lost here, the Mentalist is ruthlessly dispatched. Glimmer of hope as she wins the losers game.
Fingers was so demoralised he couldnt bare to watch the game after he was ousted. Please can you fill in any blanks or inaccuracies. Apologies, booze had heighted my emotions!
Also, apologies to the DOG about Tommy busting her painted glass.
